John 3 : 16

For God so loved the world

that He gave His only Begotten Son

that whoever believes in Him

should not perish, but have everlasting life

God so loved....

How do we know that God loves?

What does that love mean to us today?

How can I personally experience God's love?

These are questions that are sometimes asked and require an answer.

How can know that God is a God of love

The Bible is full of 'proof' that God loves, we see it as He has dealt with the nation of Israel time and time again. They rejected Him and yet He still loved them and provided for them.

We see the love of God in the New testament shown through the life of Jesus as He showed great compassion on the sick, sorrowing and poor.

the greatest demonstration of God's love is shown us in this beautiful verse John 3:16... He gave His only Son.

God sent His Son from heaven to earth to demonstrate His love to a world that had rejected Him (Romans 5:8)

In love His Son, Jesus came to die on a cross and take the punishment for our wrong doings (2 Corinthians 5:21)

The song writer has penned the words 'Amazing love O what sacrifice, the Son of God given for me' (Graham Kendrick)

What does that mean to us today?

The answer to that question is one of the great wonders of the world! it means that God can take all of my wrongs and show forgiveness to me. All our sin, wrong deeds, words, thoughts are an offence to God. All sin is primarily against or toward God, He made us and we are His creation.

Yet God in His great love is able to forgive those wrong things and make us fit for His presence.

The Bible makes it clear that every single person on the planet today has sinned against God. We all need his forgiveness. He offers that to you today!

We know that sin will keep us away from God -Imagine being fit for the presence of a Holy God. Our verse tells us that God loved the whole world and sent His Son to die for the whole world, that means that no person is excluded from taking up God's offer of forgiveness - will you take up His offer today?

How can I personally experience God's love?

The verse gives us the answer... Whoever believes in Him

What does that mean

1 Recognise that we are sinners - have done wrong things

2 Repent, turn away from that sin. have a change of heart and mind

3 Receive Jesus as your Saviour. Tell God that you are sorry for your sin, you want to Know His forgiveness and you need Jesus to save you for time and for eternity

The Bible tells us clearly..... All who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13)

Jesus said "I am the Light of the world"

John Ch 8 v 12

The Lord Jesus claimed to be the "Light of the world" He could say

"He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life"

The darkness that the Bible speaks of is SIN.

Only when we trust in Jesus as our Saviour can we 'walk in the light'.

The Lord Jesus is the Light of the world because He is the only one who can  take away the darkness.

When He died upon the cross at Calvary He took the judgement for our sin.

By trusting in Him we can have our sin forgiven and 'walk in the light'.
