Luke 24 : 5 & 6

Why do you seek the living among the dead?

He is not here but is risen!!

He is Risen

What a wonderful message to be able to declare

Easter is a fantastic time of year. We say goodbye to winter and welcome spring, the flowers start to bloom, the days are longer and all of a sudden the year seems to burst into life.

It was very similar at that first Easter.

There was the darkness and the oppression of  'Good Friday'

Jesus had been taken, battered and beaten by those who hated Him, He then died a shameful death by crucifixion.

It all seemed a terrible waste of a 'good man's' life!

But when we start to understand God's purpose and plan through Jesus it all makes sense. God was dealing with our wrong in His Son Jesus.

The Bible says "He (Jesus) bore our sins in His own body on the tree"

That has to be the greatest demonstration of love this world has ever seen.

Of course the 'sequel' to the crucifixion was three days later.

Some of Jesus' friends went to the burial place to pay their respects. When they got there the grave was opened and an angel was sat where Jesus had been laid! As the friends stood confused the angel said

"He is not here He is Risen"

The new week had burst into life - literally

Jesus was alive. Death defeated, sin dealt with, Hope for all

What does that mean to us today?

The answer to that question is one of the great wonders of the world! it means that God has dealt with all of my wrongs through Jesus' death. All our sin, wrong deeds, words, thoughts are an offence to God, yet God can forgive them all because of Jesus death  and make us fit for His presence.

The Bible makes it clear that every single person on the planet today has sinned against God. We all need his forgiveness. He offers that to you today!

By abandoning your sin and placing your faith (Trust) in His work of the cross you can know that forgiveness.

The resurrection of Jesus gives us a great hope that not only has He dealt with our sin but that we now no longer need to be afraid of death!

What is the hope of the resurrection?

The Apostle Paul, who wrote many of the new testament books gives us the answer.

"But now is Christ risen from the dead and become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep"

He simply means that because Jesus rose again, so too those who die will be raised from the dead.

If we are trusting in Him for our salvation we will be raised to live eternally with Him.

What a great message, what a great assurance for everyone who knows their sins forgiven.

This Easter you can know 'new life' by trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ

He said.....

"I give unto them Eternal  Life and they shall never perish"

Start your new life today.

Jesus said "I am the Light of the world"

John Ch 8 v 12

The Lord Jesus claimed to be the "Light of the world" He could say

"He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life"

The darkness that the Bible speaks of is SIN.

Only when we trust in Jesus as our Saviour can we 'walk in the light'.

The Lord Jesus is the Light of the world because He is the only one who can  take away the darkness.

When He died upon the cross at Calvary He took the judgement for our sin.

By trusting in Him we can have our sin forgiven and 'walk in the light'.
